In early March 2020, Biotyx representatives and American expert Dr. Daniel McLennan went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to conduct academic exchanges friendly with Dr. Mazeni Alwi and Dr. Koh Ghee Tiong, well-known in the field of cardiac intervention. The team of Malaysian expert Dr. Koh Ghee Tiong showed American experts their PDA scaffold implantation using IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold. The National Heart Institute of Malaysia is the world’s first human clinical trial center for the IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold. As the main clinical investigator of the IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold, Dr. Mazeni Alwi introduced the IBS Angel™ to American experts the results of the clinical trial completed by the iron bioabsorbable scaffold at its center. The current research results show that the immediate success rate of the operation is 100%, and the preliminary results are positive.

Dr. Mazeni Alwi said that the IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold has many advantages and is very suitable for children with complicated arterial catheter-dependent congenital heart disease and children with congenital pulmonary vascular disease. The small size of its delivery system profile makes it suitable for neonates and infants; its absorbable characteristics make it unnecessary to remove the scaffold during subsequent cardiac surgery, which reduce damage to the pulmonary artery, facilitate the ligation of the arterial catheter, and reduce complications after cardiac surgery.
After the clinical academic exchange meeting, Dr. Wenjiao Lin and Dr. Li Qin from Biotyx and Dr. Mazeni Alwi and Dr. Daniel McLennan discussed the potential indications of IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold products, product design requirements and product strategy for entering the North American market. Both doctors said that the IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold can also be applied to other cardiopulmonary vessels besides arterial catheters. The IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold has great advantages for infants and children, and the children benefit greatly.
Dr. Daniel McLennan said he is looking forward to the IBS Angel™ iron bioabsorbable scaffold entering the North American market.
